Join us as we kick off Mental Health Awareness Month in Queens at the NYRR Mindful 5K on Saturday, May 4. Open to all, from seasoned athletes to first-timers, this event is more than a race – it’s a celebration of running’s profound impact on mental well-being. Kids Can Run Too

Rising New York Road Runners welcomes your child to participate in the race-day fun with non-competitive short dashes for Stage 1 (ages 2 to 11), an untimed non-competitive half-mile run for Stage 2 (ages 8 to 18), and a timed and competitive 1-mile race for Stage 3 (ages 12 to 18). Registration for all Rising New York Road Runners events is completely FREE and made possible by the generosity of our community.

 

 

Race Day


Race-Day Number Pickup Policy

 

Bib pickup will close 10 minutes after the start time of the race. Runners arriving to pick up their bib after that time will not be issued a bib and will not receive 9+1 credit for the race.

Show your race confirmation email or the QR code from your NYRR account to pick up your race materials. Proxy bib pickup is available for this race, so a friend or family member can pick up your race materials. The person will need the QR code for your NYRR account, along with a form of photo identification that corresponds to your NYRR account. 

Start Location / The Course

The race will start on Avenue of Commerce and head up to the Unisphere. Runners will loop around the Queens Zoo, cross back past the Queens Museum, circle around the New York State Pavilion, and return back to the Unisphere. The race will finish with a sprint down Dwight Eisenhower Promenade to the Fountain of the Planets.

Bag Check

 

Bag check will be available beginning at 6:30 a.m. at Race-Day Central located in David Dinkins Circle.

Planning to check a bag on race morning? While we will continue to have clear plastic bags available at number pickup, we encourage you to use your own clear reusable plastic bag, no larger than 17" wide x 20" high x 7" deep, with the tag affixed.

NYRR is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen bags or items from bags checked at NYRR bag check.

Race Day Meditations

 

NYRR has partnered with NAMI-NYC to provide a meditation tent, a space for runners to clear their minds before or after the race. Recorded meditations will be streaming in the tent and are also downloadable. The meditation tent will open at 6:30 a.m. Please sign up for a time slot to reserve your spot here.

Additionally, Peloton instructors will conduct a short meditation in English and Spanish on stage before the start to help runners prepare mentally for the race.

Parking

 

Parking passes are available for pre-purchase online and on race day for Citi Field parking lots. Gates open at 5:30 a.m. Parking is $40 for compact cars and $80 for any car larger than a 7-8 person SUV (except for ADA vans). The Southfield Lot will be the main parking lot, please use Gate 16 and Gate 17. Cash will not be accepted.

Results and Awards

 

Live, unofficial results will be available in the NYRR Racing App and at liveresults.nyrr.org during the event.

After the conclusion of the event, official results will be posted on results.nyrr.org.

Awards will be presented on site to the top-three finishers in the overall men, women, and non-binary divisions. Runners who place in the top-three of their age group will be able to claim an award in the days following the race by filling out our Age-Group Awards Claim Form

Cancellation

 

If NYRR cancels an offering on the direction of local, city, or state authorities, participants will be informed as soon as possible, including communication of participant resolution options. Events will not be rescheduled.

No Refunds: Entry fees are non-refundable and may not be deferred or transferred.
