What is Open Run?

Since 2015, NYRR Open Run brings free, weekly community-led runs to neighborhood parks across the greater New York City area. The program is free and open to runners and walkers of all ages, abilities, and experience levels.


Where is Open Run?

You can participate in neighborhood parks in and around the five boroughs.


In Queens, we have weekly runs in these parks:


In the Bronx, we have weekly runs in Soundview Park and St. Mary’s Park.


In Brooklyn, we have weekly runs in these parks:


In Manhattan, we have weekly runs in:


On Staten Island, we have weekly runs in Conference House Park.


In Jersey City, we have weekly runs in Lincoln Park.


Who can participate?

Anyone! NYRR Open Run is free and open to runners and walkers of all ages, abilities, and experience levels — dogs and strollers are welcome to come along, too!


How do I sign up?

Easy! You can sign up here. If you already have an NYRR account, make sure to log in, which will make the registration process even faster.

Runner Incentives

In addition to staying active and being a part of a supportive community, each time you run or walk in one of our Open Runs, you work toward earning great prizes. All runners and walkers will receive an Open Run magnet after their first run.

Volunteer with Open Run

Open Run is a community-based program, designed to be supported by members of each home park community. We ask that community members volunteer once a quarter, or four times a year. Please note: Open Run volunteer opportunities are not eligible for +1 credit for guaranteed entry to the TCS New York City Marathon.

FAQ

What is NYRR Open Run?

NYRR Open Run is a community-based, volunteer-supported running initiative - bringing free weekly runs and walks to local neighborhood parks.

How do I sign up and register to run?

All participants should sign up in advance at nyrr.org/openrun or you can register on-site at your park. Signing up online in advance will speed your check-in. Either way, we’ll need a signed waiver before you can participate, but you only need to do this once!

How can I volunteer at Open Run?

Visit each Open Run park's information page to sign up for a volunteer opportunity, or you can sign up through our volunteer form. All volunteers must sign up in advance to volunteer at an Open Run session. All volunteers should adhere to NYRR's Volunteer Guidelines.

Does volunteering at Open Run count toward my 9+1?

Open Run volunteer opportunities are not eligible for +1 credit for guaranteed entry ti the TCS New York City Marathon.
