Bring the kids to the Rising NYRR at the NYRR Mindful 5K in Flushing Meadows Corona Park as we kick off Mental Health Awareness Month on Saturday, May 4. The event is a celebration of running’s profound impact on mental well-being. Learn more about our free resources that can help support kids’ mental well-being here.

Registration for this event is FREE and open to participants ages 2 to 18 of all abilities. Every finisher will receive a New Balance hat. Please note that souvenirs are subject to availability.

Stage 3: Register on this page only for participants ages 12 to 18 for a timed and competitive 1-mile race.
Stage 2: Visit the Stage 2 page to register participants ages 8 to 18 for an untimed non-competitive half-mile run.
Stage 1: Visit the Stage 1 page to register participants ages 2 to 11 that are new to running and physical activity, for non-competitive short dashes.

Why Run with Rising New York Road Runners?

Rising New York Road Runners events are designed to be fun, inclusive, and an opportunity for our youth to see what they are capable of. Registration for all Rising New York Road Runners events is completely free and made possible by the generosity of our community.

The chart below is a guide to the stages available. Use the chart to determine the appropriate stage for your child. If you need help determining your child's stage, contact our Runner Services team.

Race Day

Bag Check

Bag check will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Race-Day Central, located in David Dinkins Circle in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Planning to check a bag on race morning? While we will continue to have clear plastic bags available at number pickup, we encourage you to use your own clear reusable plastic bag, no larger than 17" wide x 20" high x 7" deep, with the tag affixed.

NYRR is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen bags or items from bags checked at NYRR bag check.

Participants will run an out-and-back course that starts and finishes on Avenue of Commerce between Avenue of Progress and Avenue of Americas. Runners will begin by heading southeast on Avenue of Commerce, make a right turn onto Herbert Hoover Promenade, and continue until they reach Avenue of Americas where they will make a right turn to reach the turnaround point. At the turnaround point, participants will follow the same course they went out on to reach the finish line on Avenue of Commerce.

Parking

Parking passes are available for pre-purchase online and on race day for Citi Field parking lots. Gates open at 5:30 a.m. Parking is $40 for compact cars and $80 for any car larger than a 7-8 person SUV (except for ADA vans). The Southfield Lot will be the main parking lot, please use Gate 16 and Gate 17. Cash will not be accepted.

Souvenirs

Finishers will receive a New Balance hat. Please note that souvenirs are subject to availability.

Souvenirs will only be distributed on race day from 7:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the orange Rising New York Road Runners souvenir tent at Race-Day Central, located in David Dinkins Circle in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. A youth race number must be presented to collect the event souvenir.

Results

After the conclusion of the event, official results for Stage 3 will be posted on results.nyrr.org.

Awards

Awards will be given to the overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place girl, boy, and non-binary Rising NYRR at the NYRR Mindful 5K - Stage 3 finishers. Awards will only be distributed on event day at the race finish.

Cancellation Policy

If NYRR cancels an offering on the direction of local, city, or state authorities, participants will be informed as soon as possible, including communication of participant resolution options. Events will not be rescheduled.
