About the Race

Be a part of the TCS New York City Marathon weekend festivities at the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K on Saturday, November 5. Runners will zip through the streets of midtown Manhattan and finish at the famed marathon finish line in Central Park—without running 26.2 miles! Friends and family, marathoners and non-marathoners—all are welcome.

USATF National Youth 5K Championships

USATF will hold its first-ever National Youth 5K Championships as part of the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon weekend. The 5K Youth race will take place Saturday, November 5, 2022 prior to the Senior USATF 5K Road Championships and the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K. The participants will follow the same route as the adults through Midtown Manhattan finishing at the famed New York City Marathon finish line in Central Park.

Each division will consist of the top 40-ranked boys and girls that enter in three age divisions: 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18. Qualifying standards can be found on the USATF website.

The 2022 Senior USATF 5K Road Championships at the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K will be streamed live on USATF.TV. The webcast is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET with the professional men's division followed by the professional women's division starting at 8:35 a.m. This USATF.TV webcast will be free with on-demand replay videos after the event on USATF.TV+PLUS.   • This race is a 9+1 program qualifier.

Race Number Pickup

 

Starting November 3, race numbers will be available ONLY at the TCS New York City Marathon Expo Presented by New Balance, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Halls 3B, 3D, and 3E, located on 11th Avenue at West 35th Street; absolutely no race numbers will be available on race morning.

  • Thursday, November 3, 10:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, November 4, 10:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Show your race confirmation email or the QR code from your NYRR account to pick up your race materials. Proxy bib pickup is available for this race, so a friend or family member can pick up your race materials. The person will need the QR code for your NYRR account, along with a form of photo identification that corresponds to your NYRR account. 

    All participants will receive a New Balance Beanie at number pickup.

Race Day


Bag Check

 

Bag check will be available on race morning beginning at 7:15 a.m. on Center Road in Central Park (to the west of the Naumburg Bandshell and below the 72nd Street Transverse).

Start corrals will be on First Avenue north of East 44th Street and west of First Avenue on East 47th Street. Corrals will open after 7:00 a.m. and will close at 8:45 a.m.

  • Mile 1: Start at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza on First Avenue at East 44th Street and head south. Turn right on East 42nd Street and head west. Turn right (north) onto Sixth Avenue just before the mile 1 marker.
  • Mile 2: Proceed up Sixth Avenue toward Central Park and turn right on Central Park South/West 59th Street. Just before the mile 2 marker, turn left into Central Park at Grand Army Plaza.
  • Mile 3: Proceed into the park, then turn left onto West Drive. Curve around the bottom of the park toward the TCS New York City Marathon finish line, on West Drive at 67th Street.

Results and Awards

 

Live, unofficial results will be available in the NYRR Racing App and at liveresults.nyrr.org during the event.

After the conclusion of the event, official results will be posted on results.nyrr.org.

Awards will be presented on site to the top-three finishers in the overall men, women, and non-binary divisions. Runners who place in the top-three of their age group will be able to claim an award in the days following the race by filling out our Age-Group Awards Claim Form.

Prize Money

 

NYRR Member Division

Prize money amounts equal for men, women, and non-binary. To be eligible for NYRR Member Division prize money, runners must have been NYRR member since at least August 5, 2022, including the date of the race, and must complete the course in 21 minutes or less.

NYRR Member Division: Teams

Prize money amounts equal for men’s, women’s, and non-binary teams. A “team” is defined as five eligible-member men, five eligible-member women, or three eligible-member non-binary, all running with the same affiliation. All scoring members must have been NYRR member since at least August 5, 2022, including the date of the race, to be eligible. There is no minimum time standard for team prize money.

Cancellation Policy

 

If NYRR cancels an offering due to an increase of local COVID-19 cases or on the direction of local, city, or state authorities, participants will be informed as soon as possible, including communication of participant resolution options. Events will not be rescheduled.
