Tina Muir: Special Contributor
Tina is the founder and CEO of Running for Real, a movement of runners encouraging each other to be brave, get out of their comfort zones, and take tiny steps toward shaping the world they want to see. She hosts the Running for Real Podcast, a collective of conversations about running, the climate emergency, and social justice. Tina believes running is a vehicle for social change. In 2021, Tina began collaborating with the United Nations, and has been celebrated as one of the lead climate activists in the running space.
Originally from St. Albans, England, and now living in St. Louis, MO, she is known for stepping away from a professional running career (highlighted by a 2:36 marathon and 1:13 half marathon) to prioritize her physical and mental health.
Tina is the co-author of the 2023 book Becoming a Sustainable Runner: A Guide to Running for Life, Community, and Planet. She joined NYRR’s Contributors Circle in August 2023 and is working on a blog post based on the book. Tina ran the 2023 New Balance Bronx 10 Mile wearing a skirt made from runners’ trash and with climate facts inked on her body.
