NYRR Celebrates Pride Month
June is LGBT Pride Month, an annual celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) pride. Pride Month began after the Stonewall uprising of 1969 – considered the start of the modern LGBT rights movement. Pride Month honors LGBTQIA+ rights, celebrates LGBTQIA+ culture, and highlights the ongoing movement toward equality, diversity, and inclusiveness.
The 42nd running of the Front Runners New York LGBT Pride Run takes place this year on June 24 in Central Park. An enduring collaboration among Front Runners New York, NYRR, and the City of New York, the Pride Run was first held in 1982. This year’s race is sold out; if you haven’t registered, come out and cheer in support of equality, diversity, and inclusiveness.
We’ll update this page throughout June to share stories of LGBTQIA+ runners, groups, and initiatives. We look forward to celebrating with you!
