Give the young athletes in your life a chance to join in on the race-day fun in Coney Island at the Boardwalk Kids Run at the RBC Brooklyn Half. They’ll experience the magic of being a part of one of the largest half marathons in the U.S.

Registration for this event is FREE and open to participants ages 2 to 18 of all abilities. Every finisher will receive a medal and a New Balance hat. Please note that souvenirs are subject to availability.

  • Stage 2: Register on this page only for participants ages 8 to 18 for an untimed non-competitive 1-mile run.
  • Stage 3: Visit the Stage 3 page to register participants ages 12 to 18 for a timed and competitive 1-mile race.
  • Stage 1 [FULL]: Visit the Stage 1 page to register participants ages 2 to 11 that are new to running and physical activity, for non-competitive short dashes.

Pre-Race


Stages

 

The chart below is a guide to the stages available. Use the chart to determine the appropriate stage for your child. If you need help determining your child's stage, contact our Runner Services team.

Notes on Registration

 
  • This event will operate under our Safety Procedures at NYRR Races guidelines.
  • We’ve updated our website to increase inclusivity and representation in our races. Parents/guardians can register youth runners as girl, boy, or non-binary. Visit our FAQ page for more information on how to update your profile.

Race Number Pickup

 

Numbers may be picked up at the RBC Brooklyn Half Pre-Party Presented by New Balance at Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, May 15: 11:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m. (final race number pickup at 9:00 p.m.)
  • Thursday, May 16: 11:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m. (final race number pickup at 9:00 p.m.)
  • Friday, May 17: 11:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m. (final race number pickup at 9:00 p.m.)

Getting to the Pre-Party

By Train:

Take A or C trains to High Street (note Cadman Plaza W exit is closed); or 2, 3 to Clark Street.

By Ferry:

Take the South Brooklyn Ferry to Brooklyn Bridge Park or the East River Ferry to Dumbo.

By Rideshare:

Map to 150 Furman Street.


The RBC Brooklyn Half Pre-Party Presented by New Balance is open to the public. Come at your leisure during open hours, and enjoy food, beverages, and music.

Parents and guardians of runners are encouraged to pick up race numbers at the RBC Brooklyn Half Pre-Party Presented by New Balance to avoid race-day lines. Absolutely no race numbers will be available at the NYRR RUNCENTER.

On race day, Stage 2 race number pickup will be available from 6:30 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. at the youth registration tent on Sea Breeze Avenue. If you plan to pick up a runner's race number on race day, please arrive at least 60 minutes before the start of their run.

Participants should report to the corrals 15 minutes before the start of their run. Staff will walk participants to the start line.

Getting to the Start / Map

 

Take the Q train to Ocean Parkway.

Click here for the event map which includes the Stage 2 and 3 start and finish areas.

Runners will run one mile on an out-and-back course that starts and finishes on Ocean Parkway, just north of Brighton Beach Avenue. Runners will begin by heading north, reach the turnaround point, and continue south back toward the finish line.

Bag Check

 

Bag check will be available from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Sea Breeze Avenue.

Planning to check a bag on race morning? While we will continue to have clear plastic bags available at number pickup, we encourage you to use your own clear reusable plastic bag, no larger than 17" wide x 20" high x 7" deep, with the tag affixed.

NYRR is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen bags or items from bags checked at NYRR bag check.

Souvenirs

 

Finishers will receive a medal and a New Balance hat. Please note that souvenirs are subject to availability.

Souvenirs will only be distributed on race day from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the orange Rising New York Road Runners souvenir tent on Sea Breeze Avenue. A youth race number must be presented to collect the event souvenir.

Cancellation Policy

 

If NYRR cancels an offering on the direction of local, city, or state authorities, participants will be informed as soon as possible, including communication of participant resolution options. Events will not be rescheduled.
