To be eligible for prize money at the TCS New York City Marathon, a runner must complete the course in 3 hours, 10 minutes or faster. Prize money categories may be subject to additional eligibility requirements, outlined below.
Open Division

Athletes competing for USA Division prize money must 1) have USA citizenship, and 2) not be eligible to represent another national federation in international competition. Only athletes competing in the Professional/Invited Athlete start are eligible for USA Division prize money; finish order is based on gun time.
NYRR Member Division

**To be eligible for NYRR Member Division awards, including time bonuses and team awards, an athlete must have been a NYRR member since at least May 6, 2022 and have completed six fully-scored NYRR races during the period of November 8, 2021 and October 31, 2022. NYRR Virtual races do not count towards this six-race requirement. Athletes who start in the Professional Athlete Invitational Start will receive first priority for NYRR Member Division prize money. Additional prize money positions, if applicable, will be filled from the Wave 1 start, based on net time.
Masters Division
For athletes 40 years of age or older; prize amounts determined by finish position; equal amounts for men and women; cumulative with Open Division amounts above, if applicable:

Time Bonuses
Open and Wheelchair Division
INew York Road Runners will pay a $50,000 bonus to the Open Division and/or Wheelchair Division race winners who breaks the existing event record. This bonus is limited to the race winners only. Athlete must break, not tie, the record.
