2023 TCS New York City Marathon Course

The 2023 TCS New York City Marathon brought together more than 51,000 runners for a journey of 26.2 miles through the five boroughs of NYC, with countless spectators cheering them from the sidewalks and fans supporting them from around the world.

2023 TCS New York City Marathon Finish Area

Congratulations to the 51,422 runners who celebrated crossing the iconic finish line in Central Park and received their medals at the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon.

2023 TCS New York City Marathon Pro Field

The TCS New York City Marathon open division field featured 17 Olympians, 11 World Championships medalists, and six past event champions. In near-perfect racing conditions, two course records were broken. This year’s champions are Marcel Hug (1:25:29) and Catherine Debrunner (1:39:32, a course record), both of Switzerland, in the wheelchair divisions, and Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia (2:04:58, a course record), and Hellen Obiri of Kenya (2:27:23) in the open divisions.

Team for Kids runners donned the signature green singlet along the course as they run 26.2 miles to raise funds for NYRR youth and community programs.

2023 TCS New York City Marathon Charities

Charity runners on the course Sunday raise money for various causes through New York Road Runner's Official Charity Partner Program of the TCS New York City Marathon. This year, there are 570 official charity partners, the largest group yet.

2023 Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K

Runners zipped through the streets of Midtown Manhattan and finished at the famed marathon finish line in Central Park—without running 26.2 miles! Friends and family, marathoners and non-marathoners joined us for this exciting and festive 2023 Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K.

2023 Night of Champions Gala

Night of Champions is a benefit to support NYRR's mission to help and inspire people through running. This special evening took place in Central Park as the annual celebration of individuals and running icons who have made significant contributions to New York Road Runners and the sport of running.

2023 NYRR Member Monday

NYRR members gather at the Marathon Pavilion presented by Mastercard for a Member Monday event, kicking off race week for the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon. This member-only event featured a mile-by-mile breakdown of the iconic TCS New York City Marathon course led by NYRR coaches and a panel of inspiring runners—including Shalane Flanagan—who also shared their marathon experiences and tips for race day.

2023 Rising NYRR Kids Kickoff

To kick off one of the best weeks in NYC, kids of all ages celebrated Race Week with the inaugural Rising NYRR Kids Kickoff. Young runners participated in this FREE and fun race on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

Wan Park: Team TCS Teacher Finds Beauty in Math and Being Consistent

Wan Park is one of 50 teachers who were chosen to be a part of Team TCS Teachers, an initiative that selects teachers in North America to run 26.2 miles in New York. Running as a Team TCS teacher is meaningful to him in many ways. “I feel like I won the lottery. I also I feel like they are recognizing teachers and celebrating being a teacher. I really appreciate that,” he said.

NYRR’s Sustainability Efforts at the TCS New York City Marathon

Marathon week is here! This year, NYRR remains committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our events and are working hard to embed sustainability in all that we do. Here are some of the things we are doing leading up to and on race day.

Mandy Kwan: Going the Distance with Family

Mandy Kwan immigrated to Brooklyn from Hong Kong when she was 11 years old and was impressed by the wide-open spaces and greenery, something she didn’t expect. Instead, she’d pictured tall buildings like densely populated Hong Kong. She ran her first race, the NYRR Washington Heights Salsa, Blues, and Shamrocks 5K, in March and took on the SHAPE + Health Women's Half Marathon the following month. On November 5, she plans to run the TCS New York City Marathon.

Aubrey Barr: Beating the Odds

When Aubrey Barr was just four years old, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and was given six months to live. In 1971 the survival rate for this type of cancer was less than 10%. Over the next several years, she received experimental chemotherapy treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering that would save her life. Beating the odds, her cancer went into full remission when she was 17 years old. Aubrey has run more than 25 New York City Marathons and plans on running again this year with Fred's Team.
