Bag Pre-Check

The deadline to pick your baggage was September 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Baggage selection is now closed.

Runners have the option to pre-check a bag at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park on Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and retrieve it in the post-finish area on race day after they finish their race. Sign into your NYRR Dashboard to pre-check a bag.

Runners will NOT be able to check a bag at the start on race morning and have it transported to the finish.

Registration for bag pre-check closes on September 12.

Runners who pre-check a bag can retrieve that bag after they finish the race in the post-finish area located on Central Park West between West 70th Street and West 71st Street. Starting at 7:00 p.m., unclaimed bags will be at West Drive and the 72nd Street Cross Drive in Central Park; they will be removed after 8:00 p.m., secured overnight, and will be moved to the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub on Marathon Monday, November 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m..

Please note:

• The bag you check must be the official pre-check bag you will receive at the TCS New York City Marathon Expo Presented by New Balance; no other bags will be accepted at bag pre-check.
• You will not have the option to check a bag at the start on race day for transport to the finish.
• Bag pre-check will be located at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park; enter the park at either 5th Avenue at East 72nd Street or Central Park West at West 72nd Street.
• Bag pre-check will close at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4.
• Please do not pack perishable items such as fruit and vegetables.
• All finishers, regardless of bag pre-check selection, will receive a poncho in the post-finish area.
• Please review our  Security Measures page for a list of prohibited items; you may not check these items. 
• NYRR is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen bags or items from bags checked at NYRR bag check.

How to Select Bag Pre-Check

To make your selection, sign in to your NYRR account, navigate to your dashboard, and scroll to your Upcoming Events section (near the bottom of your dashboard).

In the listing for the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon, you'll see a heading labeled Baggage; below that heading, click "Add" and you should see a pop-up window that presents you with your bag pre-check options.

Choose the option to pre-check a bag.

If you select bag pre-check and later decide not to check a bag, please update your selection. You may change your selection up until September 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET, subject to availability.
