Matthew Centrowitz is an Olympic Champion, and three-time NYRR Millrose Games Wanamaker mile champion. The University of Oregon alum has also taken the title at the NYRR 5th Avenue Mile, winning the event in 2012 with a time of 3:52.40.

Centrowitz represented Team USA at the 2012 London Olympic Games placing fourth in the 1500 meters, just shy of a medal finish. After a first place finish at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials 1500m, Centrowitz earned his second Olympic berth, and ultimately claimed the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, becoming the first American man to win the Olympic 1500 meters since 1908.

Centrowitz has also won five national titles and has earned bronze (2011), silver (2013), and gold (2016) medals at the IAAF World Championships. He is also a two-time Olympian in the 1500 meters.

Originally from Arnold, Maryland, he is the son of former American 5000-meter record-holder and two-time 1500-meter Olympian Matt Centrowitz. Tattooed across the younger Centrowitz’s chest are the words “Like father like son.”
