AWMM Age Group World Championships Nonbinary Division
NYRR is proud to partner with Abbott World Marathon Majors to host the 2025 Age Group World Championships at the TCS New York City Marathon on November 2, 2025.
As part of NYRR’s commitment to gender equity and inclusion, the 2025 Age Group World Championships will include a pilot program for a nonbinary division. Please read below for information on eligibility and how to apply.

Eligibility
Nonbinary athletes interested in applying for the AWMM Age Group World Championships and competing in the nonbinary division must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Athletes must be registered with Abbott World Marathon Majors to participate in the Age Group World Championships. Sign up HERE.
- Please note the gender on your AWMM profile and your TCS New York City Marathon registration must match the gender division you will compete in for the Age Group World Championships.
- Athletes must meet the automatic time qualification standards listed below in order to guarantee an invitation to the 2025 Age Group World Championships.
- Qualifying times must be achieved at an AWMM Age Group Qualifier Race within the 2024 season.
- The gender category that your results are posted under for the qualifying race will determine the gender category standards you must meet to earn an entry into the 2025 Age Group World Championships.
- If you were unable to register as a nonbinary athlete for your qualifying race, you may apply to participate in the nonbinary division and must meet the nonbinary standards.
- You must have your gender on your AWMM profile listed as nonbinary to be eligible for entry into the nonbinary division.

How to Apply
To apply to the pilot program of the nonbinary division of the AWMM Age Group World Championships, please fill out the application HERE.
Applications must be submitted by February 5, 2025 to be considered. If approved, you will receive an invitation to complete your registration for the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon by February 11, 2025. Selected athletes must claim their registration and pay all race registration fees by February 25, 2025.
Abbott World Marathon Major’s Policy on Age Group World Championships Awards
Age Group World Championships awards will be provided to the top man, woman, and nonbinary athlete in each age division. Awards will only be presented if there are a minimum of three (3) athletes participating in the gender/age division. If there are fewer than three (3) athletes in a specific age/gender division, eligible athletes in that division are still welcome to participate in the 2025 Age Group World Championships; however, there will not be an award available.
