La United Airlines NYC Half 2025 es la más grande de la historia

2025 UANYCH finishers

The 2025 United Airlines NYC Half was the largest half marathon in New York Road Runners history as more than 28,500 runners celebrated the start of the spring racing season.

This year's race also saw event records and title defenses in the pro fields on a course that crossed the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time in NYRR race history.

On a cool, foggy morning, athletes started near the Brooklyn Museum, ran through Prospect Park and down Flatbush Avenue, crossed the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan, and continued up the FDR and through Times Square to the finish line in Central Park.

Geert Schipper, Manuela Schär, Abel Kipchumba, and Sharon Lokedi broke the finish tapes, leading a pro field that featured 30 Olympians and Paralympians. Schipper, of the Netherlands, defended his 2024 title in the men’s wheelchair division, while Kipchumba, of Kenya, defended his men's open division title and broke an 18-year-old event record. Lokedi, of Kenya, set a women's open division event record.

As part of NYRR’s commitment to digital innovation, the new year-round NYRR App Developed by TCS debuted at the race, amplifying the race-day experience for runners, spectators, and supporters. Users could track race participants in real time, find course maps, and stay informed on key race information.

For the first time, a group of more than 100 runners raised money for NYRR Team for Climate during the United Airlines NYC Half to deliver a more environmentally friendly racing experience for all runners. Team for Climate is part of NYRR’s commitment to ensuring future generations have access to clean air, green spaces, and a healthy environment to run in.

A Commissioner’s Cup race-within-a-race took place for members of eight NYC agencies and the Mayor's Office. The NYPD defended their 2024 title.

“As the nonprofit that runs New York City, our focus every day is on building healthier lives and stronger communities through the transformative power of running," said NYRR CEO Rob Simmelkjaer. “The United Airlines NYC Half is the epitome of our vision, uniting athletes from around the globe in this iconic city for the world’s premier half marathon. This event showcases the best of New York City.”

The NYC Half began in 2006 as a race held in Manhattan in August. It became a spring event in 2010, adopted a Brooklyn-to-Manhattan course in 2018, and ran over the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time this year. United Airlines has been the title sponsor since 2015 and recently renewed its contract through 2028.
