The RBC Brooklyn Half is one of the country’s largest and most anticipated half marathons and an unofficial kickoff to summer. The course takes in the unique and diverse neighborhoods of Brooklyn, beginning at the Brooklyn Museum, passing Grand Army Plaza, and running through Prospect Park and along Ocean Parkway to a celebratory finish on the Coney Island boardwalk.

“The RBC Brooklyn Half has been New York Road Runners’ flagship Brooklyn race since 1981 and is a highlight of our year-round presence in the borough,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, CEO of New York Road Runners.

“In addition to hosting six annual races that run in Brooklyn, we offer free and accessible programming across the borough as part of our vision of building healthier lives and stronger communities through the transformative power of running.” Read more about NYRR’s year-round programs in Brooklyn here.

Along the route, local clubs and crews cheered for not only their teammates but all the runners making their way through 13.1 miles. Many spectators showed their support with inspiring and entertaining signs. Over 1,600 volunteers supported runners from start to finish.

Alan Bersten, pro dancer in “Dancing with the Stars," ran the RBC Brooklyn Half as his first-ever race and raised money for NYRR Team for Kids (TFK), NYRR’s premier charity that supports the nonprofit’s free youth and community programs. TFK has raised over $110 million since 2002. Alan also joined a live taping of the podcast NYRR Set the Pace Presented by Peloton at the RBC Brooklyn Half After-Party took place at Maimonides Park.

As part of New York Road Runners’ commitment to ensuring future generations have access to clean air, green spaces, and a healthy environment to run in, nearly 50 participants ran and fundraised for NYRR Team for Climate, an entry method for NYRR’s three marquee races—the TCS New York City Marathon, United Airlines NYC Half, and RBC Brooklyn Half—in which runners raise funds to help support both New York Road Runners’ carbon offsetting and insetting initiatives.
