Young Runners uses a team-based structure to help kids learn valuable lessons about how to set goals and make activity part of their daily lives. With the help of their coaches, students learn to run distances from 1 to 4 miles. While physically challenging, the Young Runners program is designed for children of all fitness and athletic levels in grades 3-12.
NYRR provides Young Runners for free to all New York City public schools. It is also available for free to youth clubs and before- and after-school programs in underserved communities. If you are interested in learning more about the program, email us or click here to see the latest impact report.
The Young Runners program is no longer accepting applications for the fall season. All additional applications will be placed on a waiting list with the possibility of entry for the spring season. Please submit an application through our online program management platform, STRIDES to be considered for the waitlist. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
