NYRR Newport Fiesta 5K logoNew York Road Runners is coming back to New Jersey! This May, we’re hosting the NYRR Newport Fiesta 5K, which will once again offer an expansive course through downtown Jersey City. Festivities will be held throughout the day—including a Rising New York Road Runners event with free, shorter-distance races for younger athletes—and will culminate with a post-race festival as the sun sets.

We strongly encourage participants to take public transportation to and from the race. Jersey City is easily accessible by PATH, NJ Transit, and NY Waterway.

Traveling via PATH
From Manhattan, take the Journal Square via Hoboken PATH train to Hoboken or Newport station. Please note: Beginning January 5, 2019 through December 20, 2020, the World Trade Center PATH station will be closed on weekends. If you are traveling from Lower Manhattan, there will be a free NY Waterway ferry transfer (with purchased PATH fare) from Brookfield Place Terminal in Manhattan to Harborside Ferry Landing in New Jersey. From New Jersey, take either the 33rd Street–bound PATH from Journal Square to Newport or Hoboken station or take the World Trade Center­–bound PATH to Exchange Place. Please note, you can transfer to the 33rd Street-bound PATH at both the JournalSquare and Grove Street stops if you’d like to take the PATH to Newport. Traveling via NJ Transit
Multiple NJ Transit Commuter Rail lines connect to Hoboken Terminal. The NJ Transit Light Rail runs from North Bergen to Bayonne with the Newport and Hoboken stops being closest to the NYRR Newport Fiesta 5K festivities. Visit NJ Transit for more information and to plan your race-day transportation.

Traveling via NY Waterway
NY Waterway provides ferries linking Midtown Manhattan at 39th Street and Lower Manhattan at Brookfield Place/Battery Park City with New Jersey. The closest ferry stops in New Jersey to the NYRR Newport Fiesta 5K festivities are the Hoboken NJ Transit Terminal, Paulus Hook, and Harborside stops. Parking will be available at the Jersey City locations listed below at the listed rates.* Please note that payment must be made upon exiting at either the exit lane or an automated machine. Plan to arrive no later than 3:30 p.m. to ensure enough time to get to your corral.

  • Newport North Garage (entrance on 60 Mall Drive East, across from Sears)
  • Newport South Garage (entrance on 2 Mall Drive East, across from JCPenney)

Parking rates for both garages:

  • Up to 2 hours: $5.00
  • Up to 3 hours: $10.00
  • Up to 4 hours: $14.00
  • Up to 24 hours: $25.00

Taxi or Ride-Sharing Service
To avoid road closures, please use Marin Boulevard and Newport Parkway or Marin Boulevard and 14th Street as your drop-off location.
