Achilles Hope and Possibility Race logoJoin NYRR and Achilles International for a four-mile race through Central Park celebrating the spirit that brings together athletes of all ages and ability levels. The primary focus of Achilles International has always been to bring hope, inspiration, and the joys of achievement to all. Since its founding in 1983, Achilles has empowered over 150,000 athletes with disabilities to participate in endurance events around the globe.

Numbers (which include your timing tag) and T-shirts may be picked up at the NYRR RUNCENTER at 320 West 57th Street (between Eighth and Ninth avenues) on the following dates:

Show the QR code from your race confirmation email or your NYRR account to pick up your race materials. Please pick up during the week to avoid crowds on race day. Race-day lines may impact your ability to get to the start on time. Shirt sizes are subject to availability; please note that shirts may not be available at race-day pickup.

If you're unable to pick up your race materials, a friend or family member can pick up for you; the person will need your QR code (printed or digitally). This policy is in effect only for our weekly races, and not for the TCS New York City Marathon.

On race day, pickup will be at Race-Day Central in Central Park from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m for the four-mile race, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for the walk, and from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. for the kids' races. If you pick up on race day, please be sure to allow yourself enough time to get from Race-Day Central to the start.

Bag check, located on Center Road in Central Park, will be open from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. If you wish to check a bag, please allow additional time for bag check and security.

Help Reduce Single-Use Plastic Waste

Planning to check a bag on race morning? While we will continue to have clear plastic bags available at number pickup, we encourage you to use your own clear reusable plastic bag, no larger than 17" wide x 20" high x 7" deep, with the tag affixed. Learn more.

Detailed Route Info

The course is the four-mile Central Park "inner loop."

Mile 1: Start on East Drive near East 68th Street and run north, ascending Cat Hill.

Mile 2: Continue north and and pass Engineers' Gate (East 90th Street). Turn left onto the 102nd Street Transverse.

Mile 3: Turn left on West Drive and run south through a series of three rolling hills as you pass the Reservoir on your left.

Mile 4: Enjoy a downhill, then a flat section. Finish near The Tavern on the Green.

Awards & Prize Money Charts

There are no age-group awards for this race. Achilles International will present awards specifically for athletes with disabilities in various categories. Provided a minimum of seven participants finish in each of the following categories, cash prizes will be awarded after results are finalized:

Pushrim Wheelchair
Ambulatory Disabled
Mobility Impaired
Lower Limb Deficiency
Visually Impaired
Open (Able-bodied)

Each of these categories will also be subdivided into Male/Female. If 3 or more individuals listed in these categories are finishers in these highlighted divisions, the winner of each category will receive a $100 TD Bank Gift Card. The prize money will be awarded at a designated time at race day central by TD Bank.
