The 2018 United Airlines NYC Half will take runners from around the city and the globe on a 13.1-mile tour of NYC. Led by a talent-packed roster of American and international elites, runners will stop traffic in the Big Apple this March!

The United Airlines NYC Half is a part of the NYRR Five-Borough Series: Run New York. Five Boroughs. One City.

Medal Engraving for Members

*Please note that we are only able to offer engraving for participants in the 2018 United Airlines NYC Half.

Please have your NYRR Member Number (available on your NYRR member card or in My NYRR) or download the NB App and show your Gold status at time of engraving. Can’t make it? Send a proxy to have your medal engraved; they’ll just need your NYRR Member Number.

Finishers who are not NYRR members can purchase an NYRR membership through their My NYRR account, and will be able to have their medal engraved after becoming an NYRR member. Visit our Membership page for more details on NYRR membership levels and prices.

Alternatively, runners can learn how to become a myNB Rewards Gold Member to receive free medal engraving.

Please note: All engraving will be done on-site; no drop-offs.

Four Out of Six

Eligibility for entry to the 2019 United Airlines NYC Half will be guaranteed for NYRR members who have an active membership by the last qualifying event of the 2018 NYRR Five-Borough Series (NYRR Staten Island Half on October 14), and who run four of the following six events in 2018:

  • NYRR Queens 10K
  • New Balance Bronx 10 Mile
  • NYRR Staten Island Half

  • In New York, catch live coverage of the race, from start to finish, on ABC7 between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. ET. The race will also be streamed live on the ABC app in the New York area. 
  • Nationwide, a live stream of the race will be available on ESPN3 via WatchESPN and the ESPN app from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m ET. The live stream will be available on computers, tablets, smartphones, and streaming devices for those who have video subscriptions or subscriptions with affiliated partners. 
  • International viewers can watch the broadcast from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. ET via a variety of global broadcast partners (check local listings).

Course Info

The Start

The United Airlines NYC Half will have two wave starts for runners, preceded by starts for pro wheelchair and handcycle athletes. View a chart of the pace cuts for each corral.

If you are checking a bag, please do so before your assigned wave's bag check closes, as we cannot guarantee your bag will make it to the finish if you check it after those times. Any bag left unattended will be confiscated by the NYPD and could cause an interruption to the day's events. NYRR and NYPD reserve the right to search a bag at any time.

Read about the new course layout for the United Airlines NYC Half:

Miles 1–2: Start on Flatbush Avenue near the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park. Bear right around Grand Army Plaza and continue on Flatbush Avenue.
Mile 3: Cross the East River from Brooklyn into Manhattan via the Manhattan Bridge.
Mile 4: Turn off the Manhattan Bridge onto Canal Street, and follow Canal Street to East Broadway.
Mile 5: Take a slight right from East Broadway onto Grand Street, and then a left onto Columbia Street. Take Columbia Street to East Houston Street and take a right, and then follow the exit ramp left onto the FDR Drive.
Miles 6–7: Continue north on the FDR Drive. Merge right onto the exit ramp for East 42nd Street.
Mile 8: Follow East 42nd Street to Seventh Avenue and turn right.
Mile 9: Run north on Seventh Avenue and enter Central Park, following Center Drive toward East Drive.
Miles 10–11: Continue on East Drive in Central Park. Turn left at the 102nd Street Cross Drive, and take another left onto West Drive in Central Park.
Miles 12–13.1: Follow West Drive south, around the Reservoir, to the finish line at West 75th Street.
