A cool morning in Van Cortlandt Park welcomed more than 200 runners as they set off to begin the 2017 cross country season. The NYRR Henry Isola Cross Country meet, as always, provided an early challenge for harriers, as the course called for four miles and two loops of the famed Cemetery Hill.
Finishing first overall was Abu Kebede Diriba of the West Side Runners, clocking a time of 22:12, while Shelby Greany of Tuxedo Park, NY, won the women's race in 23:32. The series continues with the NYRR Kurt Steiner Cross Country (5K) in Van Cortlandt Park on September 17.
