Running to Breathe and Fight Cystic Fibrosis

As April showers gave way to ideal spring racing conditions, more than 4,700 runners were delighted to #GetOutToRun in Central Park at the seventh-annual Boomer's Cystic Fibrosis Run to Breathe (4M) Brought to You by UnitedHealthcare.

Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, who was on hand to start the race and hold the finish tape, began his fight against cystic fibrosis when his son Gunnar was diagnosed with the disease.

First across the line on the men's side was Michael Brannigan of the New York Athletic Club in an impressive time of 19:53. The women's winner was Lidia Garcia of the Central Park Track Club New Balance in 24:13.
One dollar of each race entry fee benefited the Boomer Esiason Foundation, and runners and their friends and families could learn more and make additional donations at the post-race festival. The foundation and Team Boomer celebrate living and breathing while encouraging people with cystic fibrosis to incorporate exercise into their everyday lives to help them breathe.
