Guaranteed entry into the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon is available for Coaches and Sites Coordinators!

To qualify, you must have an officially enrolled Mighty Milers or Young Runners program, and you must enter your roster(s) as well as your miles (for Mighty Milers) or practice attendance (for Young Runners) in STRIDES by December 1, 2014. Each qualifying site may claim up to two guaranteed, non-complimentary marathon entries for the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon. Find out more on the FAQ page.

Young Runners Qualify for the NYRR Millrose Games

MS 598K’s Marquise Horne qualified for the youth 800m with a time of 2:39.33.

PS 126 qualified both a girls and boys 4x200m relay team. On the girls’ side, the team was comprised of Eva Minot-Pingree, Julie Schoenmaker, Rae Feiwel, and Lila Ferraro. The boys’ team members were Eric Pascale, Oliver Chin, Henry Beccera, and Jason Morales.

Kick off 2014 with a new physical education grant!

ING U.S., in partnership with AAHPERD, is providing a minimum of 60 grants of $3,500 each to qualifying schools in 2014. To learn more, including eligibility requirements and how to apply, visit www.aahperd.org/run. The deadline to apply is May 15, 2014, at 11:59 p.m.

Fun at Battery Park

Young Runners from MS 289 and MS 276 met in Battery Park for a friendly 5k race on December 4. Parents, teachers, and classmates cheered runners through the winding course, which served as a great warm-up for the Jingle Bell Jog.

Young Runners Rock the Gridiron

Coach Nicoletta Nerangis and Young Runners from PS 321 in Park Slope, Brooklyn had a blast at the NYRR Gridiron Classic 4-Miler. It was a cold day but students rejoiced over PRs in the morning and and later on that evening too, since most were rooting for the Baltimore Ravens to earn Superbowl glory in 2013.

Young Runners Qualify For The Millrose Games

The 106th Millrose Games will welcome two of our speediest relays on February 16. On the boys side, we have Zuma Guialdo, Raiden Guialdo, Grayson Aaje, and Noah Levitt from Manhattan’s MAT/PS 126M. The girls are represented by Qunizel Bazilio, Jada Kornegay, Amelia Wilson, and Keimon Redhead from Brooklyn’s Marketing Legal Studies. Both relay teams posted amazing times this season, qualifying them for the NYRR Youth 4 x 200 meter relay.

The Millrose Games will be shown live on ESPN3 on February 16 and shown at 8-10 pm February 17 on ESPN. For tickets and additional info, click here.
