Connections

The Mighty Milers in Motion monthly newsletter offers news and tips for educators on the front cover and fun facts for students on the back. Contact your Regional Coordinator if your program is planning or has done something special you'd like to share with others. Check out the current and past issues here.

Mighty Milers provides two resources you can use to reach out to others in a meaningful way. Mighty Pen Pals helps students feel a part of something big and exciting, as they connect with other programs from across the country. The most successful partnerships utilize Skype, video chats, traditional letter writing, care packages, and even incorporate Pen Pals into lessons from writing to geography. Contact your Regional Coordinator to get matched with a sister site.

Currently, Mighty Motivators, a volunteer resource, is only available in the New York City area. The duties of Mighty Motivators can be as simple as cheering the kids on – or, they can assume the role of Session Leaders and run with the kids, track miles, and help with data entry. Contact your Regional Coordinator if you would like a Mighty Motivator for your site.

Ready, Set, Film enables your Mighty Milers to share their program via the NYRR website. Kids enjoy seeing themselves on the web, and sharing their videos with family and friends. Twice a year, we send cameras to programs and a list of items to capture on film. Then we edit the footage and post it for everyone to see you in action. Talk to your Regional Coordinator if you'd like to participate in Ready, Set, Film.
