Goaling, Goaling, Gone in Georgia

For Site Coordinator Donna Thompson at Heard-Mixon Elementary in Covington, GA, it’s not just Mighty Milers who meet their goals. “All but one of our teachers walk or run with the Mighty Milers during recess,” Donna told us. Teacher Maria Hargrove even ran her first marathon in a Mighty Milers shirt.

“We have a display case,” Donna told us, “and the kids love seeing their pictures there after they’ve earned rewards.” The biggest reward? “The top running boy and girl in each grade, and the top 3 Mighty Milers classes got to tape myself and parapro Kristi Bellamy to the wall and shower us with silly string,” Donna said. “This year, we’re going to find something else for them to shower us with!”
