Run for Central Park / Kids' Races

This earth-friendly event, which included a four-mile run and kids’ races, celebrated the initiative by Central Park Conservancy (CPC) and NYRR to keep NYC green. Participants ran or walked the course through their beloved park as they enjoyed one of the greenest sports around.

On a sultry Saturday morning, runners dressed for the summer heat.


Friends and teammates met at the park to encourage one another.


There was camaraderie between competitors…


…and then they were off to vie for the top spots.


The runners competed hard, despite 94% humidity.


The bright sun didn’t slow down these smiling participants.


West Side Runners’ Bado Worku Merdessa led the men to the tape in 18:51.


The New York Athletic Club’s Abbi Antablin took the top spot in 21:59.


Randall Pereira of Summit, NJ, finished in 25:39.


This pair’s sprint finish ended in a tie (46:11).


New Jersey represented as Izzy Robledo crossed the line in 30:46.


Kathleen Rosenberg was motivated by NYRR’s Team for Kids.


Instead of a sprinkler, adults turned to the misting station for relief.


Nothing beats the sense of accomplishment gained by meeting goals.
