| The season’s first snowfall turned Central Park into a winter wonderland for the NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K on Saturday, December 20. The race honored Corbitt, NYRR's founding president and a 1952 U.S. Olympic marathoner, who passed away at age 88 in December 2007. Corbitt is known as “the father of American distance running;” he won 30 of his lifetime 199 marathons and ultramarathons and set numerous records including the USA 50-mile, 100-mile, and track 24-hour marks. Corbitt’s son, Gary Corbitt (first photo), was on hand to honor his late father. |
