The ING New York City Marathon: Build Up
Wednesday August 20, 2008 - 6:30–8:00 p.m.
Robert Wagner Middle School
220 East 76th Street (between Second and Third Avenues)
Running a marathon is a peak that every runner dreams of reaching at least once. The most important ingredient to marathon success is the long run, it mirrors the marathon itself. “Going long” is a hallowed weekend tradition that is despised and loved, feared and revered, bragged and complained about. At this NYRR Learning Series event, experts will share advice and information with you, based on their own marathon training, and guest speaker Lauren Antonucci will give tips on nutrition and hydration for marathoners. Q&A will follow.
Mike Keohane, competitive long-distance runner, sports pedorthist, and coach
Lauren Antonucci, nutritionist, MS, RD, CSSD, CDE, CDN
Topics will include:
- Improving the effectiveness of your long run
- How long, how many, and how fast?
- Good places and routes for long runs
- Upcoming NYRR long-distance races and marathon training programs
- Fueling for long-training runs
