The ING New York City Marathon: Getting Started

The ING New York City Marathon 2008 will be run on Sunday, November 2. It’s not too early to start thinking about your training. At this NYRR Learning Series event, experienced runners will share advice and information with you, based on their own marathon training and racing.

 

Topics will include:

 

  • Setting a training schedule: when to start, how to build up mileage
  • Training strategies, including crosstraining
  • Planning your tune-up races
  • How to avoid injuries
  • How to stay motivated
  • Stretching routines
  • How to improve speed
  • How to avoid first-time marathoner mistakes
  • Good places and routes for long runs
  • Training programs and group runs

NYRR members free, non-members $5.00. No pre-registration required.
