ING New York City Marathon Long Training Run #2**

Gearing up to run the ING New York City Marathon or another fall marathon? Get in some long-distance practice with this run; featuring built-in fuel, pace-setters, and training partners.

Course

All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

Start on the East Drive near 102nd Street and head north around the northern end of the park. The course consists of Four (4) Loops of varying distances:

Loop 1: 6 Mile Loop (Entire Park) – Continue south on the West Drive around the southern end of park to the East Drive. Continue north on the East Drive to the 102nd Street Transverse. Turn west/left onto the 102nd Street Transverse.

Loop 2: 5 Mile Loop - Start on the 102nd Street Transverse and head west. Turn left/south onto the West Drive and continue around the southern end of the park to the East Drive. Continue north on the East Drive to the 102nd Street Transverse. Turn left/west onto the 102nd Street Transverse.

Loop 3: 5 Mile Loop - same as Loop 2

Loop 4: 4 Mile Loop - Start on the 102nd Street Transverse and head west. Turn left/south onto the West Drive, left/east onto the 72nd Street Transverse, left/north onto the East Drive, and left/west onto the 102nd Street Transverse to the finish.

Pace Groups

Participants will be divided into groups by half-minute intervals from 7:00 through 11:00+ minutes per mile. All groups will cover 20 miles, but individuals may shorten their distance to suit their training needs. Runners faster than 7:00 may begin before the 7:00 group; however, no pace leader will be provided.

Number Pickup /Registration

Run numbers will be mailed to all entrants who register by August 18 (if you do not receive you number by August 26, please come to number pickup during the times below and a duplicate run number will be assigned to you). All others are required to pick up their numbers in advance at NYRR, 9 East 89th Street, on:

• Thursday, August 26, 4:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, August 27, 4:00-7:00 p.m.

In Central Park at the registration tent on:

• Saturday, August 28, 5:45-6:45 a.m.

There is no souvenir for this event.

Note: This is an unscored, noncompetitive run and does not count toward qualifying for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon. Participants must be at least 12 years old.

Lost and Found

The Lost and Found is located in the volunteer tent on race day. Items can also be turned-in or claimed at NYRR's front desk on the next business day following the race.


Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
