Celebrate traditional and contemporary Japanese culture at this 4-mile race in Central Park, now in its third year. The race and accompanying kids races are part of Japan Day @ Central Park, a festival featuring a variety of activities over the course of the day.

Course

All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

Start on Central Park’s 102nd Street Transverse near East Drive and head west. Turn left/south onto West Drive, left/east onto the 72nd Street Transverse, and continue left/north on East Drive to the finish at 102nd Street

Number Pickup /Registration

Entrants are required to pick up their numbers and scoring chips at the Liederkranz Club (6 East 87th Street) on:

• Thursday, May 28, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, May 29, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Saturday, May 30, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

On race day, Sunday, May 31, check-in/registration in the registration tent at the E. 102nd Street entrance ramp to Central Park at:

• 6:30-7:30 a.m. - 4M Race
• 8:30-9:15 a.m. - Kids' Races

Race entrants are strongly advised to pick up race packets and bibs during pre-race packet pick up on Thursday, Friday or Saturday at the Liederkranz.   

Participant Photography

Race Scoring

This is a scored race that counts toward the nine races NYRR members as of January 2009 need to be eligible for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2010. The race is timed using the ChampionChip® system. You must complete the race with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days.

Baggage Facilities

Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If you are planning to use this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
