Three-Hour Time Limit
Please note that in the interest of safety, any NYC Half-Marathon participant who is not able to maintain a 13:45-per-mile pace throughout the race (3:00 projected finishing time) will be picked up along the course starting at approximately mile 7.5 (Central Park South and Seventh Avenue) and transported to the finish. Be aware that the time it takes the last runner (who was at the start line at 7:00 a.m.) to cross the start line will be added to the overall 3:00 time limit, ensuring all participants a 13:45-per-mile pace. Race Scoring
The NYC Half-Marathon is a scored race and counts toward the nine races NYRR members, as of January 31, 2009, need to be eligible for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2010.
This race is timed using the ChronoTrack D-Tag timing system. This system is similar to the ChampionChip system used in other NYRR races in that each runner will wear a timing device on their shoe that will be read by mats at the start and finish and various split points.
The D-Tag timing device will be attached to your race (bib) number when you pick it up prior to the race. You must remove the tag from your number and attach it to your shoe prior to the race, following the instructions that you will receive with your race (bib) number. The tag is disposable; it will not be collected after the race.
All participants in this race must wear the D-Tag in order to have their times recorded.
Note: If you own a ChampionChip device, you must run with the D- tag, as no ChampionChip timing equipment will be used at this race.
