Gearing up to run the ING New York City Marathon or another fall marathon? Get in some long-distance practice with this non-competitive run, featuring built-in fuel, pace-setters, and training partners.
Please note that this run is limited to the first 2500 registrants. Only registered runners may participate in the run.
Course
All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.
Start on Central Park’s East Drive just north of the 102nd Street Entrance ramp. The course consists of Four (4) Loops of varying distances:
Loop 1: 6 Mile Loop (Entire Park) – Head north on East Drive to northern end of park, continue on the West Drive through the southern end of park to the East Drive. Head north on the East Drive to the 102nd Street Transverse. Turn West/Left onto the 102nd Street Transverse.
Loop 2: 5 Mile Loop (102nd Street Transverse to Lower End of Park, back to 102nd Street Transverse) – Head West on the 102nd Street Transverse. Make a left onto the West Drive and continue through to the southern end of the park to the East Drive. Head north on the East Drive to the 102nd Street Transverse. Turn West/Left onto the 102nd Street Transverse.
Loop 3: 5 Mile Loop (same as Loop 2)
Loop 4: 4 Mile Loop (102nd Street Transverse to 72nd Street Transverse, back to 102nd Street Transverse) - Head West on the 102nd Street Transverse. Make a left onto the West Drive to the 72nd Street Transverse. Make a left on the 72nd Street Transverse to the East Drive. Make a left onto the East Drive and head north to the 102nd Street Transverse. Turn West/Left onto the 102nd Street Transverse to the finish.
Water will be available all along the course, and Gatorade Endurance Formula, bagels, and fruit will be available on the 102nd Street Transverse and at the finish. PowerBar Gels will be available after mile 11, and at the finish.
Pace Groups
Participants will be divided into groups by half-minute intervals from 7:00 through 11:00+ minutes per mile. All groups will cover 20 miles, but individuals may shorten their distance to suit their training needs.
Number Pickup /Registration
Run numbers will be mailed to all entrants who register by July 18. Others are required to pick up their numbers in advance. Materials may be picked up at NYRR, 9 East 89th Street on:
• Thursday, July 31, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, August 1, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
Near the start at the registration tent on:
• Saturday, August 2, 5:45-6:45 a.m.
There is no souvenir for this event.
Note: Only the first five miles will be marked for the run. This is an unscored, noncompetitive run and does not count toward qualifying for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon. Participants must be at least 12 years old.

Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If using this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Rules of Competition
All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
