Celebrate traditional and contemporary Japanese culture at this 4-mile race in Central Park, now in its second year. The race and accompanying kids races are part of Japan Day @ Central Park, a festival featuring a variety of activities over the course of the day.

Course

Start on Central Park’s 102nd Street Transverse near East Drive and head west. Turn left/south onto West Drive, left/east onto the 72nd Street Transverse, and continue left/north on East Drive to the finish at 102nd Street

Number Pickup /Registration
Entrants are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and race souvenirs at New York Road Runners (9 East 89th Street) on:
• Thursday, May 29, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, May 30, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Saturday, May 31, 11:30a.m.-4:30 p.m.
On race day, Sunday, June 1, check-in/registration will be from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at the National Academy School of Fine Arts (next to NYRR at 5 East 89th Street). There is no packet pick up in Central Park.
Race entrants are strongly advised to pick up race packets and bibs during pre-race packet pick up on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at NYRR headquarters.
Please note that the quantity of race souvenirs is limited and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
Participant Photography

Post-Race
All age group awards will be available for pickup on Tuesday, June 3, after 1:00 p.m. at NYRR. Japan Day @ Central Park festivities will continue all day in the East Meadow. [Awards breakdown]
Japan Day @ Central Park Festivities
There will be live music, food tents featuring Japanese cuisine and sweets, and activity tents featuring origami, calligraphy, children's games and robots.
Seeded Corrals
Starting in April, 2008, all NYRR races will feature seeded start corrals. Seeded corrals will ease congestion at the start of races and allow runners to remain within the designated running lanes during NYRR events in Central Park. Rules of Competition
All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
