NYRR Police-Fire Race - Sunday, April 13 | Central Park, New York / 5M: 10:00 a.m.

The opening ceremony begins at 9:45 a.m.

Only active or retired NYPD and NYFD personnel and family and friends may enter and run this event.

Only active and retired NYPD and FDNY employees will be scored.

Course

All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

This is a 5-mile race. Start on East Drive at 67th Street and run around the northern loop of the park to West Drive. Continue on West Drive to the 72nd Street Transverse. Turn left to finish located on the 72nd Street Transverse.

Check-In/Registration

Race-day registration opens at 8:00 am and close at 9:15 am at PS 87. (160 West 78th Street between Columbus & Amsterdam Avenues). The entrance to the building is on 77th Street.

Post-Race

The awards presentation will be at PS 87.

This race is not open to the public. Only active or retired NYPD and NYFD personnel and family and friends may enter and run this event. Printed applications can be picked up from local precincts and firehouses.

Race Scoring

For NYPD and FDNY personnel, this is a scored race that counts toward the nine races NYRR members as of January 2008 need to be eligible for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2009. Only active and retired NYPD and FDNY employees will be scored. The race is timed using the ChampionChip® system. You must complete the race with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days.

Baggage Facilities

Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If using this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
