A single wheelchair competitor, representing the Achilles Track Club, set off several minutes in front of the runners.

The NYRR Team Champs race is all about friendly rivalries and healthy competition.

The Nike Central Park Track Club (CPTC) women’s team had a rousing group cheer prior to crushing the competition in the open division.

West Side Runners’ Lilian Kroner (31:48) and Rockland Road Runners’ Laura DiMarino (31:16) exchanged good-luck wishes at the start.

Go Hellgate! A fan showed spirited support as the women runners waited for the starting horn.

Spectator support was deep and spirited, especially as the runners drove hard toward the finish, knowing that every second counted.

Doing it for the team, Mary Bray De Reyes (44:08) of the Greater New York Racing Team (GNY) poured it on in the final stages.


With the men’s race held an hour before the women’s, male runners, including this contingent from Los Compadres, had a rare opportunity to cheer on their female teammates.

Kathryn Boyles (left, 28:56) and Cara Macari (31:33) of Urban Athletics rehydrated and celebrated a race well run; the team finished seventh in the open women’s division.


Ideal racing conditions made Tiffany Burke (left, 37:27) and Lara Kail (40:10) of the New York Flyers all smiles at the finish.

A post-Team Champs tradition, the team picnic, was upheld in grand style by the West Side Runners.


Powered By Dim Sum members shared camaraderie and refreshments following the races.

A strong show of support was displayed by teammates of all ages. The Mercury Masters women’s 50+ age group ranked sixth; Ilana Lobet (left), 56, finished 10th in this group in 46:37.

Team tents, pre-race warm-ups, and post-race picnics are annual traditions at this race.

Shared camaraderie—no matter the team—is what makes this race so beloved by local team members.

Jersey boys Daniels Thomas (left), 35:43, Michael Close (center), 35:26, and Christopher Jaworsky (right), 38:27, of the Essex Running Club, were all smiles.

Team for Kids, adult runners who raise funds in support of NYRR running and character-building programs for more than 150 schools and community centers worldwide, made a strong showing.

Eleventh in the men’s standings, Front Runners New York members Bernd Erpenbeck (left), 35:41, and David Pitches (right), 33:47, demonstrated their team spirit with a hug.

Michael Ring, 50:01, represented Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Track Club with a friendly thumbs-up.

The ladies of the New York Athletic Club celebrated their outstanding second-place showing.

JackRabbit Sports members proudly display their eye-catching red team shirts.


Brooklyn RRC men teamed up to take 10th place.


The theme of the day was support from all teams, ages, races, and genders—here, mom and son show up to cheer.
