Follow in the footsteps of Mets sluggers Carlos Delgado, David Wright, and others with this run ending at home plate in Shea Stadium. Mr. Met will make a guest appearance for the kids—and the young at heart. Due to rescheduling, a limited number of entries are available for this race.

Directions (from Manhattan)

By subway: Take the 7 train toward Flushing to the Willets Point/Shea Stadium station. Check www.mta.info for any service advisories affecting your trip.

Please note: There is no LIRR service to Shea Stadium on Saturday, August 11. Due to construction around Shea Stadium, please allow 15 minutes extra time to walk from the subway station to the race start area. If driving to the race, note that stadium parking is not available; parking is available on streets only. Please consider public transportation.

Course

Start at the Shea Stadium parking lot. Head west, then south, to Flushing Meadow Park. Run around the Unisphere, then return to Shea Stadium. Finish inside the stadium near home plate.

Number Pickup/Registration

Entrants are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and race souvenirs at the National Academy School, 5 East 89th Street (next door to NYRR) on:

• Thursday, August 9, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, August 10, 1:00-7:00 p.m.

Near the start in Shea Stadium Parking Lot C (near Gate A) on:

• Saturday, August 11, 7:00-9:30 a.m.

Please note: Children MUST pickup their race number by 9:30 a.m. The Kids Races will begin promptly at 9:45 a.m.

Donations

Donations to St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Queens will be collected at race check-in and on race day at Shea Stadium. A Mets cap will be given to those donating $25 or more.

Post-Race

Awards will be given to the first place male and female overall winners. [Awards Breakdown]

Minor League Run

Kids Race (ages 2-12)
Course: Please check back for the exact location. Distances range from 75 feet to 1/2 mile depending on participant’s age.
Awards: All participants will receive ribbons.

Please note: Only one parent will be allowed to accompany each child inside the stadium. Parents may not run with children 4 years and older.

Race Scoring

This is a scored race that counts toward the nine races NYRR members as of January 2007 need to be eligible for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2008. The race is timed using the ChampionChip® system. You must complete the race with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days.

Baggage Facilities

Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If using this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
