adidas Run for the Parks 4M/Kids Races

NYRR strongly encourages participants to pick up their race numbers before race day at the adidas store. See below for more information.

For countless New Yorkers, clean and safe neighborhood parks are the best places to stay healthy and active. Celebrate and support New York's beloved parks and City Parks Foundation with a 4-mile run, kids races, and a fun post-race reception for runners and spectators.

Course

All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

Start on Central Park's East Drive near 68th Street. Head north on East Drive and continue to the 102nd Street Transverse. Turn left/west across the transverse and then left/south on West Drive. Continue south to the 72nd Street Transverse, turning left/east to the finish line.

Number Pickup /Registration

Numbers, scoring chips, t-shirts, and a special shopping offer may be picked up at the adidas Sport Performance Store (610 Broadway, corner of Broadway and Houston) on:

• Thursday, April 19, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, April 20, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Saturday, April 21, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

On race day, Sunday, April 22, pickup/registration will be from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the registration tent by the Central Park Bandshell (mid-park, just south of the 72nd Street Transverse). Numbers will not be available at the adidas Sport Performance Store or NYRR on race day.

Please note that kids races registration and number pickup will close at 8:25 a.m. on race morning. No children’s bibs will be issued after that time. Kids races will start promptly at 8:30 a.m.

Awards

Join us after the race for the awards ceremony, a post-race party, and a chance to win great raffle prizes! Awards will be given in all NYRR running categories. [Awards breakdown] In addition, the top three overall male and female finishers will receive adidas gift certificates.

Race Scoring

This is a scored race that counts toward the nine races NYRR members as of January 2007 need to be eligible for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2008. The race is timed using the ChampionChip® system. You must complete the race with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days.

Baggage Facilities

Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If using this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
