NYRR Gridiron Classic (4M)/ Longest Football Throw Competition - Sunday, February 4 / Central Park, New York / Football Throw Competition: 8:00 a.m. / 4M: 9:00 a.m.

Start off your Superbowl Sunday by trying out your arm in our annual football toss. And before you head home to park yourself in front of the TV for the big game, go for a touchdown of your own by running a quick 4 miles.

Course

All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

Start on East Drive by 68th Street. Run North on East Drive. Turn West/Left at 102nd Street Transverse. Cross Transverse. At the end of the Transverse, turn South/Left onto the West Drive. Continue on the West Drive to the Finish. Click here to view the course map.

Number Pickup /Registration

Entrants are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and race souvenirs at New York Road Runners (9 East 89th Street) on:

· Thursday, February 1, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
· Friday, February 2, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
· Saturday, February 3, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
· Sunday, February 4, 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m.

If picking up on race day, be sure to allow yourself enough time to get from NYRR to the start, more than a mile away. Race souvenirs may also be picked up after the race at NYRR while supplies last. Number pickup/registration and race souvenir pickup will not take place in Central Park.

Post-Race

Fruit, bagels, and awards will be distributed on site after the race. There will not be an awards ceremony and there will not be hot chocolate available at P.S. 171. Awards will be given in all applicable NYRR age categories. [Awards breakdown]

Race Scoring

This is a scored race that counts toward the nine races NYRR members as of January 2007 need to be eligible for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2008. The race is timed using the ChampionChip® system. You must complete the race with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days.

Baggage Facilities

Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If using this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
