 Members of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) team lined up to race in support of the National Kidney Foundation. Former UAE president Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan benefited from U.S. expertise and research when he received a kidney transplant in 2000. |
 The top qualifiers contemplate the race ahead: Martin Fagan, Matt Gonzales, Craig “Buster” Mottram, and Macharia Yuot. The match-up between two-time Healthy Kidney defending champion Mottram and 2005 USA 10K champ Dathan Ritzenhein garnered much media attention. |
