Bus tickets for this race are sold out. If you purchased a bus ticket, you must pick up your ticket at registration on Thursday or Friday.

The third race in the NYRR Half-Marathon Grand Prix brings you to world-famous Coney Island for a dramatic start on the boardwalk. The flat, fast course leads you inland along Ocean Parkway before the finish in beautiful Prospect Park.


Course
All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

Start on the Coney Island Boardwalk at West 2nd Street. Head west to a turnaround at West 36th Street and proceed east. Exit off West 10th Street and continue east on Surf Avenue to Ocean Parkway. Turn left/north onto Ocean Parkway to Prospect Expressway to Park Circle. Enter Prospect Park at Park Circle and head east on South Lake Drive. Continue around the northern end of the park, returning south on West Drive. Turn left/east onto Hill Drive and left/north onto East Drive. Turn left/west on Central Drive to the finish.

Lemon-Lime Gatorade Endurance Formula sports drink will be available at official fluid stations throughout the course. This specialized sports drink has a unique, five electrolyte blend (including sodium and potassium) designed to meet the needs of athletes during endurance competitions.

 

Number Pickup/Registration
Entrants are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and race souvenirs at New York Road Runners (9 East 89th Street) on:


• Thursday, April 12, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, April 13, 1:00-7:00 p.m.

At the registration tent near Asser Levy Park at Surf Avenue and Ocean Parkway on:


• Saturday, April 14, 6:30 a.m.-7:30 a.m.

Please note that the souvenir for the NYRR Half-Marathon Grand Prix: Brooklyn will only be available at the start of the race. No shirts will be given out afterwards.

 

Note: Participants must be at least 12 years old.

 

Directions
Via Transit: Please allow ample time for your commute. Travel time from mid- Manhattan is approximately two hours. Check www.mta.info for service advisories that may affect your trip. Take the F train (PLEASE NOTE: F service to Coney Island will not be running normally this weekend. Click here for more info.) to the West Eighth Street/New York Aquarium stop. Then head east to the start on the boardwalk at West Fifth Street. Or, take the D train to the Stillwell Avenue/Coney Island stop. Head south on Surf Avenue, then east to the boardwalk and the start at West Second Street. Or, take the Q train to the Ocean Parkway stop.

By Car: Take the BQE (278) to the Belt Parkway. Use exit 7S to Ocean Parkway. Follow the signs to the New York Aquarium, which is near the start. Roads in the start area will close at 7:15 a.m.

By Bus From NYRR: NYRR will provide bus transportation from Manhattan to the start. Buses will leave from the corner of East 90th Street and Fifth Avenue at 5:45 a.m. sharp. Bus tickets cost TBD. Register for the bus by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, for guaranteed service. Note that this is a one-way bus only. NYRR is not offering return transportation to Manhattan after the race.

 

Time Limit
Participants will be timed up to three hours. After that time, medical facilities and refreshments will not be available. Members who finish after three hours can receive credit toward qualifying for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2008 but will not have a time listed in the race results; e-mail results@nyrr.org to get credit for the race.
