The 2017 United Airlines NYC Half will take runners from around the city and the globe on a 13.1-mile tour of NYC. Led by a talent-packed roster of American and international elites, runners will stop traffic in Manhattan this March!

The United Airlines NYC Half is a part of NYRR's Five-Borough Series: Run New York. Five Boroughs. One City.

Medal Engraving for Members

NYRR Members: Join us at the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub after the 2017 United Airlines NYC Half for complimentary finisher medal engraving!

Sunday, March 19: 11:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m.
Monday, March 20: 11:00 a.m.—6:00 p.m.

**Please note we are only able to offer engraving for particpants in the United Airlines NYC Half.**

Please have your NYRR Member Number (available on your NYRR member card or My NYRR) available at time of engraving. Can’t make it Sunday or Monday? Send a proxy to have your medal engraved; they’ll just need your NYRR Member Number.

Finishers who are not NYRR members can purchase an NYRR membership through their My NYRR account, and will be able to have their medal engraved after becoming an NYRR member. Visit this page for more details on NYRR membership levels and prices.

Please note: Only 2017 United Airlines NYC Half medals will be engraved and all engraving will be done on-site; no drop-offs.

HSS Recovery Zone at the NYRR RUNCENTER

After the race, stop by the NYRR RUNCENTER from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to stretch out with help from one of Hospital for Special Surgery's expert physical therapists and get tips on how to best recover from your 13.1 miles.

Course Info

The Start
The United Airlines NYC Half will have three wave starts for runners, preceded by starts for pro wheelchair and handcycle athletes.

Mile 1
Start on East Drive in Central Park, just north of East 72nd Street, and head north.

Miles 2-3
Continue north, and bear right at the Lenox Avenue exit from Central Park. Continue straight onto Malcolm X Blvd. Make a U-turn at 113th Street and continue southbound. Turn right at 110th Street and Central Park North. Run counter-clockwise around Central Park West Circle and return on 110th Street/Central Park North, then turn right at the Lenox Avenue entrance to Central Park. Bear right at East Drive and continue south on West Drive.

Miles 4-6
Continue South on West Drive. Turn right at the Seventh Avenue exit from Central Park. Continue south on Seventh Avenue through Times Square.

Miles 7-8
Turn right at West 42nd Street, then right at the West Side Highway into the northbound lanes. Make a U-turn at West 43rd Street, and run south in the southbound lanes.

Miles 8−12
Continue south in the southbound lanes of the West Side Highway.

Miles 12-13.1
Bear left at the Battery Park Underpass entrance. Run through the underpass and continue on FDR Drive North. Bear right at the South Street exit and then turn left onto Old Slip. Turn right at Water Street to finish on Water Street at Wall Street.


This event has a three-hour time limit. Participants who are not able to maintain a 13:45-per-mile pace will have the opportunity to board a sweep bus for transport to the post-finish area. These participants may choose to continue running on the sidewalks, but they should be aware that fluid stations and other course amenities may not be available.


NYRR Pace Team

The NYRR Pace Team, wearing their signature white and blue striped singlets, will run even splits through all 13.1 miles of the United Airlines NYC Half. NYRR Pace Team members will lead runners to finish times at every five-minute interval from 1:20 to 2:15, and will also offer a 2:30 pace group.
