THIS RACE IS SOLD OUT.
This race honors the late NYRR president and New York City Marathon co-founder, Fred Lebow (1932-1994). The course is two-plus loops of Central Park, which can be a challenge in January! Join the mid-winter fun and camaraderie—and perhaps kick off your training for a spring marathon. You'll have lots of good-spirited company.
Instead of T-shirts you'll get Fred-style cycling caps, and there'll be classical music (Fred's favorite) at the start and inspiring Fred quotes along the course! Stay tuned for announcements of other Fred-themed events.
Use MTA Trip Planner to plan your trip.
All race information is subject to change.
Please note that NYRR members who run four of the following six events in 2015: the Fred Lebow Manhattan Half, United Airlines NYC Half, Brooklyn Half, Queens 10K, Bronx 10-Mile, and Staten Island Half, and who have an active membership by year-end 2015 will be eligible for guaranteed entry to the 2016 United Airlines NYC Half.
The course is two-plus loops of Central Park. The start is on West Drive near 63rd Street. You’ll complete two full counter-clockwise loops of the park, after which you’ll start a third loop and turn left onto the 72nd Street Transverse just past the 13-mile mark. The finish line is at the easternmost entrance to the Naumburg Bandshell. Major uphills are at approximately 1.5, 3.5, 4.5, 7, 9.5, and 10.5 miles.
There are three full aid stations (with both water and Gatorade), each of which you’ll pass twice. Two additional stations provide water only. See the course map for locations.
Numbers (which include your timing tag) and Fred-style cycling caps may be picked up at NYRR (9 East 89th Street/Fred Lebow Place) on:
Please pick up on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, if possible, to avoid crowds. On race day, pickup will be at Race Day Central in Central Park (see course map) from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. If you pick up on race day, please be sure to allow yourself enough time to get from Race Day Central to the start.
If you're unable to pick up your race materials, a friend or family member can pick up for you; the person will need to know your full name and date of birth. This policy is only for our weekly races, not for our marquee events.
During cold winter months and in wet weather, stickers do not adhere well to the clear bags provided for baggage check. Rather than cracking the peel and adhering the sticker to the outside of the bag, runners who check a bag on race day should slip the sticker inside their clear bag with the number facing outward.
Age-group award winners will be notified via email after results are finalized.
