Scottish or Not, Runners Donned Kilts and Ran Fast

Central Park became a Scottish moor this morning in the 11th annual Scotland Run 10K. Under a pristine April sky, more than 8,000 runners ticked off the miles to the inspiring drone of live bagpipes – one at every kilometer of the course. And per Scotland Run tradition, many of them swapped their racing shorts for wool kilts.

West Side Runners and New York Athletic Club Dominate the Scotland Run

The First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond, welcomed 8,067 runners to Central Park this morning, just a few hours before the Tartan Day Parade began its annual procession down 6th Avenue in Manhattan. Among them were some of the fastest runners in the New York area, all vying for precious club points in the second NYRR points race of 2014.
