Please note that this race is a half-marathon.
Join Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Fred’s Team for Grete’s Great Gallop (named for legendary marathoner Grete Waitz, a close friend of New York City Marathon co-founder Fred Lebow) on October 5 in Central Park! Grete and Fred ran the 1992 New York City Marathon while he was fighting brain cancer. Today, Fred’s Team (named after Lebow) has raised more than $54 million to bring us all one step closer to a world without cancer. The event includes a half-marathon and a 1.7-mile run, as well as kids' races.
Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Fred’s Team Presents Grete's Great Gallop 1.7M (8:15 a.m. on the same day) is also open for registration; the 1.7-mile event is NOT a marathon qualifier. Please register for one event only.
Use MTA Trip Planner to get there.
All race information is subject to change.
The course is two full (six-mile) loops of Central Park, plus 1.2 miles after the second loop. Start on East Drive near 70th Street. You’ll complete two full clockwise loops of the park, after which you’ll start a third loop and continue for another 1.2 miles. The finish line is on West Drive near 67th Street.
