Important update: The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce and New York Road Runners have jointly agreed to combine the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run and the NYC Walk to Salute the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act in order to celebrate this special 50th anniversary with collective unity. The NYC Walk to Salute the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act is part of HARLEM WEEK, one of the northeast area's largest cultural celebrations. The start time of the Walk has changed to 8:30 a.m., the same time as the 5K Run. Registered walkers will line up behind the runners on St. Nicholas Avenue south of West 134th Street. Please be in place for the Walk no later than 8:15 a.m.

From the start on Edgecombe Avenue at 135th Street, walk north to 150th Street and turn left. Turn right onto Convent Avenue and head south to 141st Street. Turn left, then right onto Edgecombe to finish back at the start line. The walk distance is 1.5 miles.

Numbers and T-shirts may be picked up at the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Building Plaza (163 West 125th Street at Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard) at the following times:
• Thursday, August 21, 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Friday, August 22, 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
Please pick up on Thursday or Friday to avoid crowds. Please note that pickup will NOT be at NYRR.
Shirt size is subject to availability. On event day, pickup will be at the Percy Sutton Educational Complex (enter at 136th Street between St. Nicholas Avenue and Frederick Douglass Boulevard) from 6:30 to 8:00 a.m. If you're unable to pick up your own materials, a friend or family member can pick them up for you; the person will need to know your full name and date of birth. This policy is only for our weekly races, not for our marquee events.
Registered walkers who are no longer able to participate in the Walk due to the start time change should contact email@example.com to cancel their registration.
At the conclusion of the run and walk there will be an awards ceremony. Following the awards ceremony and presentations there will be a special Harlem Music celebration commemorating the Civil Rights Act of 1964, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. with live entertainment, dancing, and family picnics on the great hill of St. Nicholas Park. All are invited.
