It was a road race, pure and simple. The Al Gordon 4M in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park this morning inaugurated NYRR’s new series of “Classic” races—“no-frills” events with smaller field sizes, open solely to NYRR members, and priced at just $10. No T-shirts, no post-race festivities, no awards—and apparently, no complaints.
Nearly 1,900 runners looped around the lakes, meadows, and forests of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park in this morning’s Al Gordon 4M. With a race-time temperature of 41 degrees and the sun peeking in to say hello after weeks of snowstorms, runners enjoyed near-ideal conditions for a PR or just a nice reminder that winter won’t last forever.
