What's one way to cure the post-Marathon blues? How about a loop around Central Park? How about nine? For some 500 runners, today's NYRR NYC 60K was the "ultra" remedy.
These hearty souls ran 37.2 miles in the ultimate test of mental toughness while family, friends, and a small army of 300+ volunteers cheered them on. Each lap started and ended at 90th Street, just around the corner from NYRR's brownstone headquarters and under the watchful eye of NYRR founder Fred Lebow's statue. The race is the only ultramarathon on NYRR's annual calendar and always brings out a slightly different breed of runner -- one more intent on challenging himself than his fellow competitors.
