The heat wave finally broke—if ever so slightly—for today's Queens 10K, the third leg of NYRR's 5-Borough Series.The race was a half-marathon until 2012; the switch to the 10K (6.2-mile) distance has been appreciated by those runners reluctant to tackle long distances in scorching conditions.
Queens is known as the most diverse borough in one of the most diverse cities in the world, so it would only make sense that the winners of today’s Queens 10K in Flushing Meadows Corona Park were fresh faces who made more than just a subway trip...
