True to its name and tradition, the Coogan’s Salsa, Blues and Shamrocks 5K, which was run on Sunday, March 3, provided plenty of music, food, and drinks to more than 5,800 runners in Manhattan’s Washington Heights.. The scenic course backdropped a lively mix of runners, fans, and entertainers, many decked out in green in honor of the race sponsor, Coogan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant. As the year’s first NYRR team-points race, the friendly 5K was also highly competitive.
In the first NYRR team-points race of 2013, the Coogan’s Salsa, Blues, and Shamrocks 5K, West Side Runners (WSX) claimed both individual victories and swept the men's podium places. The race brought more than 5,800 runners to Washington Heights on a brisk March Sunday morning. The WSX squad and Central Park Track Club New Balance (CPTC) took the open men’s and women's titles, respectively.
