The Celebrate Israel 4-Mile takes runners on a symbolic journey through Israel, from Eilat to Tel Aviv. So perhaps it was fitting that unseasonably warm conditions prevailed for the 4,005 runners—plus a couple of hundred more in the kids’ races—who took part in the third running of this Central Park event.
The Celebrate Israel Run and kids’ races is one of several events on the NYRR calendar that honors the culture and heritage of a nation that makes up part of the great melting pot that is New York City. This morning in Central Park, unseasonable heat had many native Israelis feeling right at home as they made their way around the four-mile loop meant to represent a symbolic journey around Israel, from Eilat to Tel Aviv.
