Mosop Says He's 85 Percent, Again

Owing to an injury that kept him out of the 2012 Olympic Games, Moses Mosop says he’s coming into the ING New York City Marathon at 85 percent.

That’s the same thing he said going into the ABN Amro Rotterdam Marathon in April, where he finished third in 2:05:03, and when he won the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in 2011, in 2:05:37.

NYRR Announces "Race to Recover" Marathon Fund

The New York Road Runners on Thursday announced that it has created the “2012 ING New York City Marathon Race to Recover Fund” and that it is making a kick-off donation of $1 million to aid in relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy

The $1 million, which will be donated to the Mayor’s Fund, represents $26.20 for each of the more than 40,000 runners expected to participate in Sunday’s ING New York City Marathon. Read More

Pro Athletes Faced Marathon Just to Get to NYC

Five top Kenyan athletes—all among the favorites to win Sunday’s ING New York City Marathon—were at the airport in Nairobi on Tuesday night when they were told there was a problem.

Because their connecting flight from London to New York City had already been canceled in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, they were not allowed to board their plane.

Salazar, Kuscsik, Gorman Inducted into NYRR Hall of Fame

Three-time New York City Marathon champion Alberto Salazar and two-time winners Nina Kuscsik and Miki Gorman were formally inducted into the NYRR Hall of Fame on Thursday morning.

Kuscsik, 73, is the first woman to ever run the race, winning in 1972 and 1973. Gorman, won in 1976 and 1977, and remains the last American woman to win.

Both were present to accept their awards; Salazar was unable to attend because of travel issues.
